I wonder which MacBook Pro Smithen uses since the X1600 in the first-gen Core Duo MacBook Pros was underclocked compared to the X1600 in the later Core 2 Duo MacBook Pro.
It would be nice if Macworld could run a comparison between the 9400M in the MacBook, the X1600 in a Core 2 Duo MacBook Pro, the HD2400XT in the low-end iMac, and the 7300GT in the Mac Pro. These cards basically serve as the lowest common denominator for Mac games so it's important to see where they stand.
I would think the 7300GT would be the slowest since I hear it has driver issues, followed by the HD2400XT, which I believe is actually a mobile version, with the 9400M and X1600 trading blows at the top. The 9400M would have the advantage in shader heavy games while X1600 would lead in texture heavy cases where memory bandwidth is important. The 9400M seems pretty comparable to the discrete 8400M GT, while the X1600 usually falls in between the 8400M GT and the 8600M GS.
