I bought the following computer from Apple about 2 weeks ago:
PM DP1.25GHz, Ti128MB VRAM, 1GB RAM, 72GB SCSI HDD, Ultra SCSI Card,
It costed me 3127.99 ($5130)
Unfortunatly you all know, a week later a "PRICE DROP", I tought; too bad. A few days ago an Apple salesman called me, and told me that he sees on the system that I bought a Mac without a display, he told about the price drop on the display too, I told him how disappointed i was on the PM price drop, so I told him if he can get a refund I will consider it, he told to call the apple after sales team, anyway today i got a refund of 1103.27 ($1807).
My question should I spend another 345 ($565) for the 23" or just take the 20" and keep the rest, how do they compare, I realizd that the 20" is about 20% brighter than the 23".
I'll use them for Graphics design (Illustrator, In Design, Photoshop)

Are you saying that you would have to pay additional for the 23"? You weren't clear about it. I thought you were trying to figure out what to do with your refund money.

you did say,
In reply to:

just take the 20" and keep the rest

that implies that you would get cash back. Right?

OK, I put it together with the $1807 refund. But how much does that leave you if you get the 20"? I don't know the UK price for the 20".

Yep, Id get the 20 and an extra gig of RAM.
Very, very cool of Apple to give you a refund by the way! I have never heard of anyone doing that before!

If I buy the 20" the rest is then 167 ($273) 2x512MB RAM chips at Crucial UK is 148 ($242), so there is still change of 19 ($31).

Most memory resellers have 512MB 2700 DDR for $100USD. http://www.ramseeker.com/
I don't know about shipping to the UK, but you should check.

Anyway, I don't think that adding RAM is an option, the question is the the 23" worth spending 345 or not, are the 3" or the whatever pixels more it has, worth the money, period.
Thanks

If the option of getting a 23" Cinema is dependant on YOU paying the extra out of your own pocket, then absolutely NOT!
If the boss can be persuaded to spend the extra - given the fact he's had a refund - then YES, without hesitstion. The extra brightness will not really be noticed.
Besides a makeshift hood could be knocked up to provide better contrast if the office lighting can't be lowered without it affecting other colleagues.
Again, I reiterate, DO NOT SOEND YOUR OWN MONEY! The company can write it off against tax, so they benefit in more ways than one, you don't (except for bragging rights - damn expensive bragging rights).
HTH make your decision easier.
