Source for this information?
I do not see it in their archive of Press releases on livescribe.com. I have been watching and waiting for both a Mac release and printable paper, so I am anxious for more specifics. thanks!
Also, if you have a Costco near you, they have a package that includes the 2GB pen, 4 notepads, and pen ink refills for $199. That may be the present to my self this season. ;-)

The source for this information is Livescribe themselves. It's not incumbent upon us to wait for them to get their Web site's act together, hopefully they'll take care of that soon.

If you can have a laptop with you during these note-taking moments, for $40 you can give Pear Note a whirl.
You may never go back to handwritten note-taking ever again.

I currently own a livescribe pen. As soon as I read this article, I emailed inquiring about beta testing, and here is the reply I got.

"Our programmers have targeted November 24th as the release date of the Livescribe Desktop for Macintosh.
On November 24, go to www.livescribe.com/install to download the Livescribe Desktop for Mac beta software for free.
System configurations are:
. Mac OS 10.5
. Intel-based Mac
. 1 GB RAM
. 2GB minimum free disk space
. Available USB port
. Internet connection
Thank you.

btw, I just checked that Pear Note from MISTERSQUID's reply. That sounds like the more logical thing to use rather than handwriting notes. I'm going to download the trial and take the mbp for a spin. The only flaw I see is how well the microphone in the laptop will record. For lecture hall classes, I can't imagine it doing too well. Does anyone know of a long range usb mic that's compact enough to work with the mbp?

Chris Holt wrote a similar article about the Pulse pen and I know a lot of people have questions about it since it has just barely become compatible with Mac.
As a student, I have found Pulse to be a lifesaver. I was initially worried that the pen wouldn't pick up the audio in my classes with large lecture hall settings, but was pleasantly surprised that Livescribe included settings specifically for that as well as for conference rooms.
Loading notes online has been a great feature since I get an email every week from some student who couldn't make class.
Livescribe is doing a special promotion right now where they will give 5% off now till Thanksgiving if you use the code Scribe5A03 at livescribe.com

Another thing to know about this pen, when I bought it, I knew it wasn't mac compatible. But I had boot camp, and windows vista. To my surprise and anger, the Livescribe pen is not Vista 64-bit compatible. Now I use the pen with my wife's macbook using windows xp. I'm strongly waiting in anticipation for this Mac software!
