I have problems with file sharing on my iMac: I can turn "File Sharing" on in the Sharing pane of System Preferences. However, the "Shared Folders" section is empty. I tried to add a folder (by clicking on the +) and I can choose a folder from the finder. But when I click "Add" after choosing this folder, the window disappears but nothing else happens.
The computer doesn't really freeze, I can move the System Preferences window around and the mouse seems to work, but I cannot do anything else, I cannot switch to a running program or start a new one. I tried waiting to see whether my iMac is doing something, but even over night, it didn't change.
I have to shut down the computer by holding the power button and start it up again. This is reproducible and happens every time I try.
I hope someone can help. Thanks!
