{quote:title=pminich wrote} How did the bookmarklet work? I haven't seen this before but sounds like it could be useful.{quote}
My bookmarklet for "Open in new window" appended some javascript to a web page such that any link you click would open in a new browser window. I forget where I got it, but Google would find it quickly. Now, 2.2 breaks this bookmarklet functionality, which is a shame. I'm not sure whether the bookmarklet just needs to be re-written, or if Apple has somehow disallowed the functionality.

Google Street View isn't available to Canadians. Hopefully we'll at least see major Canadian cities before the end of 2009. I'm disappointed Apple wasn't able to provide landscape mode for typing email and SMS. As well we still don't have the ability to send a vCard from our Contacts list without the use of a third party app. There's also no A2DP which would be useful instead of jogging, snowboarding, etc with a wired headset. I was even hoping for the ability to sync notes with Leopard or have the ability to edit documents but that's a no show for this update. I really dislike the way Safari now looks with a cramped search field next to the URL field. While this makes sense on the desktop it doesn't on a mobile device such as the iPhone. Though at least for now Safari hasn't crashed on me. As for having the ability to download podcasts while on the go I see a use for that and glad Apple at least put that feature in the update.

Sending pictures from a cellphone uses MMS not SMS. MMS is currently only available to jailbroken iPhones. Which leaves one to wonder why Apple can't provide this most basic feature considering other developers have already proved it works on the iPhone and it's a feature that has been around for some time even on the most basic of cellphones.

agree completely, street views is a frill (esp in Canada where you don't have any views) when iCal cannot even handle tasks. Maps is a toy more than a useful tool (how many times have I wrestled with it trying to keep it tracking my journey while driving; it's a hazard actually), and this upgrade does not address such basic shortcomings.
What would've been nice with Maps is to search a route then have Maps PRELOAD all the data (say +/- 100 km radius around your route) so that when you fall out of cell coverage (sometimes within urban centers as well as outside cities), your route doesn't disappear until you re-establish cell coverage. You could do this at home via wifi (saving on cell bandwidth), and have common maps pre-stored in your iPhone so you don't have to re-load them all the time. What's that 16 GB for anyway?

Most of the cool updates only work if you're in the US (transit info) or Japan (emoji icons) and street view isn't available for the UK yet. The only feature that has really wowed me is the use of the home button to go to page 1. After all the hype, I'm pretty "meh" about it. Maybe the next update will have some of those most requested functions like SMS forwarding, cut/copy/paste and push. The other thing I'd like to see is the ability to run apps in the background so that I can listen to apps like last.fm or wunderradio while using another app.

I downloaded a podcast via the iPod Touch, and when I synced with my Mac, the newly downloaded podcast didn't get synced to the Mac. It's only on the iPod Touch. Isn't it supposed to sync to my iTunes library like a purchased song from the iTunes store on the iPod? How would I then go about deleting the Podcast off of the iPod Touch if it can't sync to the Mac? Any help?

Actually, it's not a "friqing phone for crying out loud", it was marketed as much more than that (you've seen the ads no?). If I wanted a phone, I would've paid $0 3 year plan, instead I had to pay Rogers Canada $485 3 year plan so I expect a lot more than just a phone. Hence our collective complaining about the many shortcomings.

My mics still don't work with my iPod touch and they shouldn't, right?
I have an iPhone mic/headset and SmartTalk from Griffin; neither works.
Is this the same for everyone still? The feature isn't enabled yet, right?
Sure would be nice to get confirmation that I'm not going nuts!
