Great, now if only I could do this for my ipod classic. I've discovered a wealth of Doctor Who audio dramas which I listen to in bed and would love it if the episodes played in the right order. It seems the only way at the moment is to put them into a playlist which would be okay except there are rather a lot of episodes to catch up on!

Yes! I totally agree! Why in the world did they change it so that it automatically begins playing the next episode? I LOVE this new change (for chronological listening) but give us a few options....
And, yes, I understand that Apple isn't exactly KNOWN for giving users choices, but they really should consider changing some of those policies as they become more and more mainstream. They risk losing market share eventually to more open systems... Again.

There are times I don't want one podcast to play immediately after another.
For me that is all of the time! That was the behavior in the days of the 1.x iPhone software.
For the case of short podcasts I collect and want to listen to in series (The Onion Radio News), I made a Smart Playlist.
And I'm not just idly whining -- I've sent this in to Apple Feedback.

Apple needs to allow this to be configurable. When subscribed to a podcast that has segments, they are published in order. For example, Hour 1 is published first, then Hour 2, then Hour 3. So, with the new sorting order you cannot play the segments in order. Hour 1 is last in the list. then when you manually go to Hour 2, when it's done, instead of going to Hour 3, it plays Hour 1 again. It's really annoying. The old sorting order worked much better for me.
