Should probably note that DDR3 support has been on Intel desktop platforms for a long time now, even before Core i7. I believe it was first in the X38 chipset, while Core i7 runs on a X58 chipset. Montevina and the new nvidia mobile chipsets also support DDR3 and I think Apple is one of the few, maybe only, notebook manufacturer that actually uses DDR3 SODIMMs in their notebooks. It's not that important to the CPU since a single channel of DDR3-1067 can saturate a 1067MHz FSB, but the 9400M IGP can certainly use dual channel DDR3-1067. Which is why other PC manufacturers that use the 9400M and couple it with DDR2-800 won't get quite the same performance.
