This is something I predicted a while back. The one thing that some are forgetting, this paves the way to Blu Ray playback. Apple on the other hand should know how this is really going to be as Job's said "a real bag of hurt" with this approach.
For those willing to watch movies on a 24" screen, Apple has its new spiffy neato wowzah overpriced screen that should work with DRM. - GROAN.
I'll look forward to seeing if anyone figures a way to defeat the HDCP crap or a 3rd party comes out with a "switch" of sorts that is seen by the the Apple computer as HDCP acceptable and then passes the signal on to whatever output device you have.
Again - this is probably a prelude to blu ray play though most likely not the main reason.
I'll stick to my Mac Desktops, PS3 blu ray play back on TV, and streaming of archived material via the PS3. As for iTunes DRM. I am not worried, I would rather just rent a netfix movie or buy discs (DVD and Blu Ray).
Jobs - Apple is making its own bag of hurt here. New port with DRM hassles, dropping Firewire on some models, and no new Mac Mini to date.
Damn, its getting hard to tell Apple from Microsoft and makes Ubuntu look a whole lot better.
