We have a Samsung SCX-4500. Exceedingly cool...like Hotblack Desatio's ship at Milliways.
Quite and responsive. The only drawback is that it doesn't do envelopes.

I call on Macworld to fill the real information vacuum on new hardware—the scarcity of info on how this or that peripheral works on a Mac.
Generic information on how many trays this printer has or what the zoom ratio is on that camcorder can be easily found in a million different places. What Mac users need is specialized info focus on:
Does the unit work as advertised on a Mac*
Which Windows feature does or doesn’t work on a Mac*
Which Windows application bundled with the hardware does or doesn’t have a bundled Mac equivalent.*
Does the Mac equivalent of that software work on a par* with the Windows version.
* Etc.
For example, this article promotes the Brother MFC-7840W. My Brother MFC-7820N (its predicesor) has been a flawless performer for me, but in a write-up I would expect Macworld to state that it will upload faxes from memory only to Windows, it comes with Windows only OCR, it will do poster printing only in Windows, and all these Windows-only functions work in Parallels/Windows. This is the info we need from Macworld.
