You definitely missed some. Off the top of my head:

Best utility: Google Earth (amazing that I can see the world from my phone)
Best icebreaker: iMartini (looks great at a bar, and spanks the pants off the hokey iBeer app)
Best music app: Pandora (I love my Pandora streams. Shazam might be a close runner-up).
Best time waster: Colors! (I am no artist but love making pretty paintings in this app).

SimCity probably came out too late, and it's a tad buggy now, but WOW on that!

Glad you got X-Plane though, that is a real accomplishment for a mobile platform.

Again, these are just our picks for games. We're rolling out several categories over the next few days. (And not to give anything away, but you might be hearing something about Pandora when we reach the appropriate category.)

Brain Tuner is kinda lame, it's not very fun and not effective.
It might not be super fun either, but IQ boost is a damn effective brain game. in fact it's based on the only proven brain training technique.
Check it out: http://itunes.com/app/IQboost

Frenzic anyone? Only THE BEST app on the iPhone. Notice the use of the indefinite article here... Ah well... guess it's only an opinion anyways. Here's mine.

Yep. Frenzic is the #1 game by far. I can't see how the others even come close. Frenzic is easy to learn, difficult to master and more addictive than crack.

When I feel the need to abuse the glass on my touch, my tool of choice is Frenzic.

I'm surprised. Seems like all the games I really love missed out on this list. I was most surprised that none of the aurora feint series games made the list!
The beginning and the arena are amazing games that utilize the iPhone in an uncountable number of ways. Tilt, network, graphics, sound, multtiplayer... The whole shebang!!!

I can't believe Flick Bowling or Enigmo didn't make the list.

As far as Flick Bowling, we'll have to disagree. I thought that game was mediocre at best. Enigmo was separately recognized -- along with several other iPhone games -- as worthy of induction into our 2008 Game Hall of Fame.

This list was based on an eligibility period that ended Nov. 1, due to our deadlines on the print magazine side. Frenzic shipped later in November. But we love it too.
