Macworld Expo Keynote recap

Why do Apple not provide a non-streaming copy of keynote videos in a timely fashion? Do they not understand that streaming simply doesn't work outside the US? I guess not if they're an HD feed this time (what a joke - as if that will even work) and still after all these years have not allowed users to increase buffer time in QT. How can they remain so painfully clueless about the rest of the world? Hello Apple? Streaming doesn't work in you live outside the US (or maybe Japan with it's superfast broadband)! It never has!
BTW - MacWorld formats really badly in Firefox, but not in Camino.

I caught Roman's comment about not all rumors full-filled in the Keynote. I would be very surprised if Apple shipped a new Mac Mini with a 3.5" internal hard drive and a robust graphics chip that can handle two displays. Apple would be competing with themselves if they offered such a machine while trying to maintain their margins on the Mac Pro towers.

Outstanding - the 2009 keynote is finally up on the iTunes store. Just search podcasts for "Apple Keynotes". Sadly the second half of the video iTunes downloads is nothing. Just the same still frame repeated endlessly. After twice failing to get an uncorrupted video from the NZ iTunes store I'm going to try the US store, though I doubt it's a different source sigh Apple - why didn't you check your video first? Over 150MB of it is nothing.

Well that was a surprise, and I should REALLY have guessed from the
video's high quality (doh!). The podcast's size is not just over 300MB.
It's actually just over 1GB. That explains my previous problems! So
anyway - now I just have to wait an hour while the complete video
downloads from the US iTunes Store. Clearly not even the most basic
checking was done in the NZ iTunes store :-( Typical.

I have a feeling—or maybe "hope" is a better way to describe it, since my "feeling" isn't based on any knowledge—that Apple will release a Mac mini upgrade sooner than later. It'll probably be just a processor upgrade and nothing more. Such a minor upgrade isn't enough to call attention to in an Expo keynote.
I recently bought a Mac mini, and it's a nice lil' general-purpose machine. It would be a shame for Apple to just let it fade away. In a related note, Rob Griffiths wrote an Editors' Note article that reflects the same feelings I have about the lack of hardware.
