But have they fixed printing? '06 had really nice print options, allowing me to print multiple wallet-size photos on one sheet, for instance. Then they took it away in favour of a cooler-looking but almost unusable interface. If it hadn't been for the "events" photo-management system I would've gone back to '06.

Although there are ways to share a common iPhoto library what I really want is a way to synchronise libraries between more than one machine. Even with Time Machine (or a Time Capsule) as backup it never hurts to have more than one backup! In the event of a fire there is more chance maybe one machine will survive out of two of more in a household.
Give me a sync option any day!

i use iphoto for one reason: the calendar and book creation is really cool.
Everything else is Lightroom. Obviously it's a pro level app, but iPhoto really pales in comparison to that, and even Picasa and Live Gallery on the Windows side.

Some people are not willing to spend $300 to manage photos.

Aperture imports all your iPhoto libraries, data, etc. Apple has made sure they work together seamlessly so the "serious consumer" would want to upgrade to the pro level app. I don't know how well Lightroom plays with iPhoto -- probably not as well, being that they're made by two different companies. I still use Adobe Bridge CS3 for a lot of my file mangement duties, as well, but that doe intergrate with Aperture at all. I guess eventually I will stick to one particular workpath, but at the moment I am working in two, depending on the project.
Hope this helps, Steve

hmm. I didn't say consumers should spend $300 for lightroom no just said I dont use iPhoto that much. And if all you think lightroom does is manage photos, you are mistaken. iPhoto is cute but picass I'd just as good.
Picasa is ugly though I realize that is my opinion but it's shared by many in the Mac world. iPhoto passed Picasa up in UI a while ago. If Picasa wasn't free it certainly wouldn't be competitive IMO

Hey Jackie, when you get a shipping copy in hand and have a chance to wring out Faces, how about commenting on the software's ability to recognize pets (dogs, cats) as well. I've got a ton of pictures of the family pets and an automatic sort of them would just be way cool.

iPhoto can be shared across multiple accounts. Move your iPhoto Library file to the /Users/Shared directory. Everyone has access to it there. I've been doing this with my wife for the last 6 years. It works. You don't need to create a separate Shared account.
I followed Apple's official recommendation for sharing the same iPhoto library for editing among multiple users. (Also found on Macworld.)
Why?
From what I read on Apple's site sharing an iPhoto library by other methods can result in corruption if two users access the library at the same time. So I wouldn't recommend just moving your iPhoto library to the Shared folder if you want multiple users to be able to edit the same iphoto library.

"If you recently bought a new Mac, you can upgrade for $10. The suite costs $79 for everyone else. "
How recent does it need to be? I got mine when the late 2008 came out at the end of October...Am I eligible?! Where can I get the info precisely?

Nope. Not recent enough. Early January 2009 is recent enough.

if you want syncing, picass kind of does it for backup purposes. U can sync to picass
Web albums for free. That way if a fire burns down ur house, you have that stored in the cloud

That's backing up, not synchronization. Synchronization is when you make changes to two or more installations, and when you sync, changes from each installation are copied to the others.
