Uhm, clearly you must have missed the HearPlanet double-decker bus parked outside of Moscone every day with the cranked music and live DJ.
You certainly couldn't get more in your face than that.
HearPlanet is an iPhone travel app btw, and thanks to the marketing push at Macworld they have shot up to number three in the travel section of the App Store, even beating out Yelp!

What I was hoping for was for Apple to announce they would update the iPhone 3G firmware to allow video recording, video podcasting, voice command, voice turn by turn GPS navigation, multiple attachments for Mail, remote data wipe for MobileMe subscribers and tethering. Some of which have been available for several months on jailbroken iPhones.

The iPhone App Store isn't the best way to market iPhone apps??? Uh-hem... 10,000 apps and more than 600,000 downloads beg to differ!

Your explanation is accurate but the more important reason is that iPhone apps are not priced high enough to justify the expense of a trade show. IDG should consider an App Pavillion with perhaps 100 mini booths next year if it wants to save this trade show.

The above quote is not true. The person can give out iTunes coupon codes that would discount the price of their advertised product.
