How can this beleaguered company afford to continue their beleaguered operations? The beleaguered Michael Dell should sit down with the beleaguered board and brainstorm some beleaguered ideas of how to save this truly beleaguered enterprise. I mean, the beleagueredness of the beleaguered state of the beleaguered corporation is unbeleagueredable!

If the Palm Pre is half what it’s touted to be and they can patent dance, it will turn the market into a threesome with Apple and Crac.. er.. Blackberry.
That doesn’t leave much room for Dell who, BTW, shouldn’t even be considering the smart phone market while dissatisfied Dell computer customers like me are costing Michael $$$ching in lost sales. I already have a Dell laptop (my last) and they won’t honor the language of their warranty on it. Why would I want an also-ran Dell phone that they won’t stand behind?

Wow, can anyone remember, this was the guy that put his foot in his mouth when asked about "Apple" years ago. What he would do with the company. He replied, "break the company up and sell it in parts" Man have we not only come a long way, and we have also come full circle. Today is the day that he should consider his own advice. The "Wall Street Journal" is right. To even have a chance, the new Dell Hell (sounds like it would fit) would have to blow Apple & Blackberry & Palm away to even be considered. That's not gonna happen. And in this economy too. P.S. That's a VERY OLD PHOTO of him too.

Did everyone forget? Dell did make some great PDA’s back in the old days. Remember the Axim X30, Axim X50v, and the Axim X51v. All that they have to do is resurrect them and bring them up to date with phone capabilities. I think it will be great. .Let not all jump on the bandwagon and beat down Dell. After all, Apple was once in that same situation and look what happened to them. Give Dell a chance. You never know, it might be the next best thing besides slice bread.

I just got a new Dell at work yesterday, and I've been fighting with it all day. Total POS. Dell's were crap when I was managing labs in college, and they've gone downhill from there. I feel sorry for the well-meaning employees at Dell if they really move into smartphones--lambs to the slaughter.
I had thought that Dell was moving away from the strategy of "do whatever Apple succeeds at." They are different companies with different strengths after all. Too bad Michael Dell hasn't figured that out. Good thing he returned to the CEO position.
@tudza, the iTouch doesn't exist. I hope your Axim does way more than a non-existent product.

Oh yes it does, but Apple doesn't make it. It's a Logitech keyboard from 1998 or a portable media player made by Passen (and still being produced if I'm not mistaken). This is the main reason why it irks me every time I see someone use "iTouch" to refer to the iPod Touch--it's a current product from another company! Is it so difficult for people to use the proper name of Apple's device?

Well now, looks like Apple should have done a little more research on the product name then. Why blame me for their oversite? I am obviously not the first person to make such an error in haste and I won't be the last. Am I really required to study the Apple corporate style and copywrite usage manual before posting?
If you had just said, "You mean the iPod Touch." I would have said, "Yeah, I typed a little fast there." But no, I get the snide comments.
Common people, grow up, this is all on the level of correcting people's spelling and grammar.
