I don't foresee purchasing a Kindle, but I would buy Kindle content for my iPhone.
caduceus, it is hard to think of a worst idea than trying to read a book on my 42" HDTV. I am not sure what the sweet spot is for reading books, but it is a lot smaller than that.
Will Amazon bring Kindle to the iPhone?

Yes, I think they probably will do their own software for the iPhone too. Unfortunately this is one of the biggest problems ebooks keep running into - everyone wants their particular format, software and internet store to dominate a market that's still in diapers, one that's made too complex for all but the the technorati by each player's insistence on being a one-stop software-format-store solution. Sales are therefore limited, prices for content are often absurdly high, and no one wins.
I want to buy ebooks, but not just from one store and I don't want to have to buy a dedicated device to read them on and I don't want to have to use software from only one vendor to read them with either. Particularly software from the same company that is selling me the books
