Does this mean you can edit text in an excel file on the ipod/touch now?

Yes it does. The app is for the iPod touch.

Do you know if syncing is the way that the files will transfer?

It syncs via Bonjour or wireless LAN. I've only been playing with it for a couple of hours and am not in my home office, but I was able to transfer files through the LAN web interface. The program will give you an IP and port and you crank that into a web browser. It serves up a page that looks like an iPhone screen that lets you transfer files.

The one bug I've run into so far is with a fairly large sheet with a number of unsupported formulas. The app will crash if that's the sheet that's set to open on startup and will need to be reinstalled. I'll be pinging their support e-mail about that. Otherwise, it looks pretty cool.

To be picky, it doesn't sync. Synchronization implies that if you make changes to a document on both sides, the changes will be integrated into the other copy. It has file transfer built-in though - which is very handy.

What's this? Cut-and-paste on an iPhone? Heresy!
