Well that's pretty stupid. Now you can't use 3rd party headphones with the shuffle. Hope you don't lose 'em at the gym!

Sounds (pun intended) cool. I can just hear people who hate the Apple buds shouting WTF?! Will 3rd party devs even bother?

Forget the Shuffle, it's obsolete, too old. I've just invented the iPod Pequeño, which holds 1. Million. Songs...

Sucks you probably can't use existing headphones, but also presents an opportunity for the developers that can crank out new products quickly. Whoever get a new headphone with controls, or a cable to use your existing phones will have a first shot at the market. If I were a hardware manufacturer, I would jump on this as an opportunity.

What's even stupider is not believing that within weeks there will be a third party adapter announced. These are the same earphones that work on the iPod touch. There will be an adapter.

Glad I like the shuffle I have. Apple's ear buds have never worked for my ears.
Not sure what the point of VoiceOver is. If I'm listening to a song, audiobook, etc. I chose to put on my computer and chose to load onto the Shuffle - I likely already know what is playing and who performs it. "I'm just sayin'!"

Interesting evolution of the Shuffle concept, departing from "dumb" shuffling or sequential play to a "voice-over" interface to allow multiple playlists, and the controls on the cord which allows a smaller device and no need to look at the buttons to find them.
Perhaps they'll lower the price after tooling costs are amortized.

I'm waiting for an iPod Shuffle small enough to stick in your ear. Who wants bulky earphones?

You know, I really found the old postage-stamp one really cramped my style. I mean who has room for something that large? Now half a postage stamp, that really fits into my lifestyle!
Note to self, never put this down near white chicklets...

Yeah - my wife was not interested in having the last Shuffle - too small, too easy to loose. What would she say now?

I will say, though, that especially for working out, the small size of the Shuffle really works well for me.
