Apple unveils new iPod shuffle

Darn (or some other expletive!) I use headphones designed for running. Apple's headphones fall out of my ears if I move even a little. I will not be buying another iPod as long as it is designed like this. Oh well. Good thing there are other digital players on the market. TIme to start shopping.
* and I don't want to wait for some adapter to add to an overpriced digital player, as suggested by someone above. Amazon lists several small digital players under $20 - and most even have a display! Glad Apple got me to look back into other companies who are making the same product for a lower price. No auto iTunes sync? Doesn't matter to me. I use the same music for the gym for months without ever syncing.

Wow so many whiners... There are trade offs when you miniaturize devices...
I think the shuffle is a genius device. This iteration is great. 99.9% of the market doesn't give a rat's a$$ if they use 3rd party headphone... If you want that, buy the Nano.
The only thing that wasn't clear is how you go back and listen to the same song over again. The instructional video demonstrates skipping to the next song but not going back.
As an avid runner/cyclist, I really appreciate the new Shuffle.

I'm in the market for a new iPod and need something I can hook into my car's auxiliary stereo input jack. Unless a 3rd party creates something, I can't use this iPod. It's a shame because I like the idea that you can "browse" your playlists on it by sound as it seems much safer than having to avert your eyes from the road to look at a display screen as on traditional iPods.

It looks like an amazing little product. Literally, you would just clip it to your shirt or pocket. At that price, wow. Let's give props where they're due. They clearly put some thought into this and it seems like it wonderfully executed. The shuffle is no also-ran. It's got personality and a niche all its own. Ideally, Apple's earbuds would have flexibility in their design to fit everyone's ears perfectly of course. Voice Over is nice, but what's really key is being able to choose from multiple playlists. I don't see why the previous generations couldn't have done this actually through a better use of the buttons.
One major flaw, and I'm not so sure that Apple doesn't mind: You can't control it in the car through the Aux. input jack, since there are no controls on it.
But for what it is, it seems pretty great.

Double-click is forward, triple-click is back. I assume one triple-click brings you back to the start of the current song you are listening to, the second triple-click goes back further to the previous song. If that's not the case, you can triple-click to go to the previous song, then double-click to go forward to the next song (e.g., the one you were listening to).

Clearly Steve Jobs has no say in this little monstrosity. The voice over feature seems cheesy; Who wants to hear Steven Hawking dictating your playlist? And of course what everyone else is complaining about; not being able to use your own headpones! I love Apple, but they make one of the most uncomfortable headphones on the planet. I'm addicted to my Shure SE530's. I don't like the mirrored latch either. They should've made it white to coincide with their traditional color schemes. As of right now, the new shuffle is nothing more than an aluminum suppository that speaks like Steven Hawking.
