If this works as well as my iPhone headphones, this is a bad move. I am on my 3rd apple iPhone headphone set. The mic in each one has stopped working.

Sansa Clip looks cheesy to me, but I do agree that a screen would be nice. Just a text only screen that will let you jump to the song/playlist you want. Simple click navigation was OK for the original concept of the Shuffle, which was for people to randomly play through selected songs from their full library, with 4GB of audio, it becomes impractical. While VoiceOver is a great thing for the hearing impaired, I think it would be a bit slow to navigate though 4GB of playlists, songs, and such.

That could be true, except for the fact that it's spinal cord, not spinal chord.

Why use Apple headphones. They are the worst headphones around.
Apple why can't you include an insert of 3.5mm Jack 'Like you did on the old remote' ?
Your loosing Functionality
Why should I HAVE to pay extra to either a third-party for the Functionality, or pay to get a 'more functional' ipod.
All i want is to play music - no videos, no Voice over, no games, no apps, no crap ....
all i want is : Good Storage 3.5mm Jack USB cable = Easy Sale.
Granted it was only released yesterday, so maybe they might think about it soon.

No kidding. I was at Walgreens yesterday and found a Apple Shuffle look alike for $20. Plastic and boring. It amazes me that companies can't even come up with there own ideas. And they steal Apple's ideas and folks say look I'm styling and I did it for only $20 bucks. Yea. I wonder how long that thing works when you sit on it.

You want a screen buy a nano or the original iPod. The shuffle isn't about screens. It's about size. I want to listen to music with the smallest footprint. Its light and I don't have to worry about scratching a screen.

Another one who hates the design of the ipod earphones, and always have as they DO NOT FIT MY EARS and HURT. You'd think they'd catch on... and at least offer different styles of earphones.
So now I can't plug my ipod into anything (and I can't exchange it - which I am SO MAD ABOUT!) I wish I could, and I would get the cheaper now outdated model because it was BETTER - this is a step backwards. It's really the stupidest thing Mac has done yet - especially on top of their already bad earphones they have never bothered to fix. The last nano was really the first time I wanted an ipod at all, especially when it came down in price and I was finally willing to break down and let my husband get me one... but someone chose to get me this new one trying to be sweet - over the old nano.... and I hate it. I feel bad because it was a gift but it's almost worthless, and he paid more for it. Which is just stupid - but I can't exchange it because he did the free engraving - which is really a ploy by Mac so that it's unreturnable.
