It's hard to say for sure. First off is it a Mac or a PC? And are you trying to move it to a new computer, or are you just trying to restore it. One thing you can do universally is make a copy of the library file itself and move the library file itself. Or assuming you have iTunes manage your music, just move the entire iTunes folder, and when you move it on to a new computer there should be a way to have iTunes look for a library, I just don't know what type of computer you have.

No disrespect, but I'm not convinced this is the case.
No disrespect taken. You may be under the impression that the removal of Smart Shuffle from iTunes has altered shuffling on your iPod, but it is not the case. Changing playback settings in iTunes only impacts playback in iTunes. Your iPod settings are mutually exclusive from what you do in iTunes and must be set from the Settings menu on your iPod. Smart Shuffle has never been implemented in iPod firmware as discussed here.

As I stated previously, it would be nice if Apple pointed this fact out to iTunes users....
iTunes is a database and like any database, the management features will not function as intended if the data is inconsistent because computers are stupid. You can give a holy mess to a person and expect them to properly sort and group items. Database software is not intelligent and requires the user to put in work in order for the software to work correctly. So this goes beyond people?s choice to tag or not tag media as they wish. No one has stated that people do not have that choice, but they should know the consequences of that choice when using a database.

@mdawson: thank you, truer words were never spoken. I do a lot of database management and I apply the same work ethic to my iTunes library. I have indeed corrected erroneous info provided by GN CDDB; while most errors were garden variety spelling, some errors were totally wrong genres that made me shake my head.
Also, about the lack of Apple-provided direction - that is one of Apple's flaws; they expect a user to intuitively know how to use their offerings. And when users don't, that's when software gets dumbed down, such as the removal of Finder-accessible image files in iPhoto.
