Kevin Rose certainly aimed low with his predictions is my first takeaway.
Digg that.

Nice announcements. Unfortunately, it looks like you still cannot use a playlist as an alarm. I wonder why?

Does cut copy and paste count as three of them?

Apple could announce this thing would the iPhone's owner to Venus and you guys would start out with complaints that it won't do the dishes. Geez, I think this is a pretty great list of improvements. I'm thrilled with getting both search and Spotlight, and the idea that mail search will stretch to include Exchange if necessary is awesome. The cut and paste looks light a pretty good implementation of something that, granted, should have been included in v 1.0 and there are some cool things like the notes and calendar integration that will make my iPhone more productive, not just a gizmo.
Things can always be better, but I'm pleased.

Though we'll have to wait a bit to see exactly how all these 100 features will work out, I think its safe to say that Apple hit a home run today with this announcement. If nothing else, they just put all other iPhone wannabes down a few notches. Once iPhone 3.0 is out, none of those other guys will be able to touch this.
I personally don't think there were any major contenders to start with, but I think Apple just blew everyone else out of the water anyway.
Still room for improvement of course, but this is pretty rockin' all around I'd say.

OK, so they've slated solutions to all bar three of MY reasons not to buy an iPhone.
Now all they need to do now is a better camera in the hardware spec of the (hopefully) new iPhone, enable it to record video and Flash/Java and I'll be in the Apple Store Regent Street queue on launch night for 2. One for me, one for the other half.

They definitely need to add Quicktime VR support. It seems like it would be so easy given the fact that Apple pioneered the technology and Multi touch is a perfect fit.
