Sorry, dude. For grilled cheese, you'll need a Dell. But! it will do slightly tepid tea.

Grilled cheese, no. But more than tepid tea. My recent model MacBook Pro with NVIDIA 9600 enabled can hit 110 deg-C CPU temp before the fans begin to ramp up from idle. Been in for hardware repair and extensively vetted with Apple, who say "normal behavior". Another flurry of posts on Apple discussions forums.

Um, Andy, you DO realize that appledefects.com hasn't posted anything new since this tidbit:
Posted in News by AppleDefects on the July 12th, 2007
Apparently the latest Mac OS X 10.4.10 update isn’t all joy, some users are reporting performance problems with their WiFi, as Appletell reports......
Apparently Apple has been 'Defect Free' since then and your experience is clearly a delusional experience. :)

Gosh. Clearly it's time for me to upgrade. That would make a nice cup of tea. (Water at sea level boils at 99.97 C perhaps Apple is looking to expand into housewares.) You might be able to make a Grilled Cheese. Give the cheese a try and maybe you can sell the thing to ChrisLJ.

I have a Dell Inspiron 9100 with a Pentium 4 CPU. I use it to grill steaks while simultaneously baking bread in the heat from the exhaust fans. It screams like an F-16 and will rock you like a hurricane! But, it burns my grilled cheese samiches.

"perhaps Apple is looking to expand into housewares."

Yeah baby, Apple and George Foreman! What a team!

A bit off topic, but just a question related to Scrivener :)

The little Inspector panel here in my word processor reports that this question is only 63% rhetorical (good God, is there anything that Scrivener can’t do?).

I use Scrivener and have never seen this feature of analyzing for rhetoric / cliches in writing.. does anyone know what he's talking about? Cheers, Ian

Those are laptops you're using, andy, not hammers. Try treating them with a little respect - they'll live longer and cause you a lot less frustration. Nobody should be wrecking laptops at the rate you are! Do you live next door to a huge magnetron or something?

Not good enough. Now if you could use the bottom of that puppy to make a grilled cheese sandwich I would offer to buy it from you. Mmmmm, grilled cheese!

Oh please! Drying your socks and then putting a sandwich on it....I think I'm going to barf!

But if you are drying them, that means they have been washed, doesn't it?

It's no worse than brushing your teeth next to where you potty. Think about it.

I've had Powerbooks, MacBooks and MacBookPros ... not to mention many of the desktop variety. I've never had any major issues with any of them. I even had a Powerbook fall off the back of my motorcycle and despite a cracked hinge, it continued to serve me well for several years. My experience has been good and Ihnatko's has been bad, but you need to look at the over userbase experience to get an accurate assessment of reliability.

Must be a slow week for Andy. Sensationalism always gets eyes to read copy.

That's a nice website you have there Dave. Hope you have a lot of business with all of the switchers coming over to Macs. I'll be up here in Miami County rooting for you. Go State!
