Rob Griffiths writes:
"One final new feature is actually a really old feature. Snow Leopard will have a Put Back command that moves a file from the trash back to its originating folder. The long-time Mac users out there will remember this command from OS 9 as Put Away (Command-Y; it’s still in my memory banks), and it’s very useful for those times when you change your mind about deleting a file. Score one more for the old timers!"
Seeing the return of command-Y is certainly nostalgic, however, currently in Mac OSX command-Z will undo that file's moving to the trash. Strange to re-introduce this.

Thank you for pointing out that running 50% faster is a feature. What would the alternative be? Buy a 4.5 GHz Mac? How much would that cost?
Further, the footprint is much smaller. Less places for bugs to hide and you will get at least $29 worth of freed up DRAM in which you can run applications.
I am more excited about Snow Leopard than about any of the other cats (except for maybe the first). The Apple engineers have spent a year polishing it up. I like features, but I like features that run quickly and dependably, even more.

But in current Mac OS X, the undo command only works on the most recently deleted item. And you have to use the undo command immediately after putting the item in the trash, or else the undo command no longer applies to that item.

Use Option Command and drag to select text in a column - it creates a box with the text highlighted - and then Apple C to copy. Voila!
You do need to start your Option Command Drag a little higher above the leading text line than usual - that's all.

I've got a question---
From the Apple Snow Leopard requirements page---

OpenCL

NVIDIA Geforce 8600M GT, GeForce 8800 GT, GeForce 8800 GTS, Geforce 9400M, GeForce 9600M GT, GeForce GT 120, GeForce GT 130.

ATI Radeon 4850, Radeon 4870

My 2008 Mac Pro ATI Radeon HD 2600 isn't on the OpenCL requirements list. That is disappointing but, a quick look through the Apple Store shows me a grand total of ONE card -- the ATI Radeon 4870 that is available for my machine as an OpenCL capable upgrade.

Do any of you know if this OpenCL requirements list will encompass more video cards in the future? This list is incredibly restrictive.

Sounds great, and it's wonderful that Apple would price it so modestly.

What about Boot Camp? There were rumors earlier that it might get upgraded, any info on that?

"Another area that has seen speed and efficiency improvements is the OS
X installation process. It’s now up to 45 percent faster than Leopard,
and uses up to 6GB less drive space"

Maybe I'm picky but, as Snow Leopard is going to drop support for PPC, I should say that these "improvements" are just the side effect of using x86 only binaries instead of Universal ones.

No word on Bootcamp support for 64-bit but HFS+ support (read only) is there. Baby steps

I downloaded Service Scrubber as a way to get rid of the Chinese Text Converter, but no luck.
I eventually just deleted it from System/Library/Services, then I was able to remove it from the Services menu after that.
FWIW, as it turns out the Chinese Text Converter is completely unrelated to the lanugage files that Monolingual removes.
