ftp doesn't work in safari or i.e. 5.2.2?

Hi as the post above says, I tried to download java 1.4.1 dp10 from the developer website and it wouldn't connect when i clicked on the download button using safari v60 or i.e 5.2.2. In both cases the progress bar just stalled and didn't move anywhere.
However chimera was fine! I'm really quite confused /forums/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif
I have the jaguar firewall on and I'm connected via adsl (through an ethernet connection to a speedtouch 510 v4 router). Could this have anything to do with my lack of access to ftp?

Try this...go to Sysetem Preferences>Network>click on the FTP tab and check or uncheck the box that says "use passive FTP" (or something like that) and that may work.

Passive FTP does seem to have fixed it but it sure is slow!

Edit: Ok it was slow from the server I tried, actually it works fine now:)
