Hi. I just bought QT 6 Pro so I could convert some Doctor Who AVI's to QT so I can save them forever. Well, QT won't display the video, only the sound! I tried Importing it, but get errors and still no video. Any suggestions? Thanks for your time.

They are probably DivX files, and QuickTime can't display them without the proper codecs. Download the DivX 5.0a3 codec and also the VideoLAN client, good for viewing DivX on the Mac. Both are free downloads available from versiontracker.com

They could also be Indeo 3, 4, 5 or 263 files. I say that because the majority of the DivX files around use variable bit rate mp3 sound and it will not play unmodified on a Mac. MovieProperties/VideoTrack/Format should tell you what the compressor is. Indeo 3, 4 and 5 are available from the Apple Quicktime site for MacOS 9 and 8. OS X users are out of luck as at present there are no Indeo codecs for them.
Indeo 263 has never been ported to Mac
