I posted previously about what digital camera to buy, and I think we will be going with the Nikon 2500 for about $300.

I have a follow up, which I am embarrased to ask. Assuming that we buy a digital camera, how do we get the pictures developed. I do not plan to buy a printer, so do I have to use IPHOTO or OFOTO, or can I take it to my trusty local Kodak developer.

Stupid question, I know. images/icons/rolleyes.gif

Yep, iPhoto and Ofoto are two good options. Also, many photo developers will develop images burned on to a CD.

Remember, there are no stupid questions, only stupid people. images/icons/wink.gif

You might also want to investigate places like Sam's Club, Costco and yes, even traditional photo labs. Most will be able to pull right off your compact flash or smart media card.

Happy shooting .... Phil

So, I will be able to take my memory card to ritz or whoever? That is cool. I thought I would be forced to go over the internet.

Do not waste your money at Ritz. Go to WalMart (disclaimer: I have nothing to disclaim). Less than $0.30 per shot, printed out 4x6 (Ritz is 3x5) in the same quality as a regular picture. You can go there, or send them online. Everyone else is about 50 cents per pic. The quality at WM is just fine for the average person. WM is actually cheaper than printing them yourself with borderless paper.

You might want to look into other digital cameras than the Nikon 2500. This the snazzy looking blue and silver Nikon (with the hip commercials) does not have an optical viewfinder (one that you look through to frame the shot) and you have to shoot using the LCD display.

This has two drawbacks ---

1. It's difficult to use in bright sunlight since the LCD will be washed out.

2. It will eat batteries like crazy.

This website has a great review of the camera you are looking at (sorry, i don't know how to embed links into posts):

Just thought I'd toss my 2cents in. Hope it helps.
