converting avi files

What's up kids. Just wondering if there any programs out there that will allow me to convert avi files or play avi files on mac os x. Oh ya when I say programs I mean free programs. Thanks.

Hi Darken122,
The best no fuss program Ive found to work is VLC Client.It works great with .avi's and can also play dvd's.
Give it a try.

BTW, check out DivX Validator, part of the DivX codec for Mac.
