whenever I mouse down on anything in Internet Explorer browser window, ANYTHING, a popup window will appear as if I had been holding down on the Control Key when I moused down, and I get the Control Key pop up window. this is very annoying as it makes it impossible to click on and acitvate any link. this happnes on the Internet Explorer interface buttons, the content of the website where I am at. everywhere in the IE window. this has been happening for a little over a week. I would use Netscape or OmniWeb or Safari, but there is a web site that is very important to me, and only IE will successfully handle this particular website's Java Applet.
running 10.2.4 with loads of RAM on a G4 Desktop that is 6 months old.
any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

yes, thats right... the contextual menu is what appears whenever I click on a link in the web page or a toolbar favorite. this prevents me from activating a link. all I can do is choose "open up in new window" to go where I want to go.
I looked for prefs to trash and couldn't find any.
guess I will try reinstalling.

This seems to be a common problem with IE and OS 10.2.4. Whenever I first open IE, there is a flashing menu as if the mouse is held down on a link. It flashes 4-5 times then disappears and does not seem to reappear when a new web site is brought up. Annoying!!

I have the same problem. It started just a couple of days ago, after many weeks of working fine. That's a puzzle.
I think it helps if you click off to the side, not dead center, and I also think it helps if you give it the shortest click you can.
If you find an answer, I'd like to hear it.

believe it or not, there are many things a beta program like Safari still can not do. In my initial post, I said that IE is the only app that can handle a particular java applet at a web site that is very very important to me. every browser is unique. I use many browsers. some browsers are better for some things, some for others. in MY case, I have to use IE on this particular webpage. I have been using Netscape 7.02 for most other things. Safari, will one day soon, I am sure be my go to browser. but it is still imature. no one is more pro-Apple than me. But if Safari cannot handle the particular Java Applet, sorry Apple, and all the fellow pro-Safari people here, I just can not use it. I also find Safari lacking in many other features. I really think Netscape is the best one right now.
thanks to everyone that tried to help me with my problem without trying to get me to switch.
