Is their a way that I could use a cell phone as a modem for my Powerbook G3 (Firewire)? If their is, how fast would the connection be? Thanks.

OK, there are a few questions that need to be answered here first.
1. What cell phone provider do you have?
2. What phone do you have?
3. Do you have USB?
4. Do you have OS X?
OK, if you are using the cell phone to dial into your ISP like it were a regular modem, then you'd be limited to 14.4 kbps or 9.6 kbps. It depends on your cell phone provider. CDMA systems (Sprint, Verizon) have 14.4 and GSM (T-Mobile, Cingular, AT&T) have 9.6. Most of the time, you just pay for the minutes. That's good if you have some sort of UL minutes.
Most phones have USB cables available that will work with Macs. Usually, they're bundled with software (Windows only - usually) that will be useless on your Mac, unless you use VPC. If you can get just the cable, that's the way to go.
If you want faster speeds, you'll need to pay for something like Verizon's Express Net or Sprint's Vision. You'll be able to cruise around 144kbps. But you'll have to pay for it.
A good place to get info on this stuff is Mac Cell Phone Yahoo Group . Take a look there.
BTW, I have an iBook with OS X and a Moto v60i (Verizon). The cable cost me about $20. I can easily login to Verizon's ISP number (#777) and get 14.4 speeds for getting my e-mail and checking stock quotes. It's quite convient. And it's free (at night and on weekends).
