Problem connecting USB Dig Video Camera to G3 OS X

I have a Sony Digital 8 (DCR-TRV140) digital video camera and a Powerbook G3 Powerbook with OS 10.2 on it. When I connect the camera to the computer via USB, iMovie says that there is "No camera connected" when I try to import video. Can anyone tell me why. The sony website says that OS X doesn't need any driver software. Please help, thank you-much appreciated.

I think that you may have to go back and talk to Sony about this. Your camcorder is not listed on this page as being compatible with iMovie. (BTW, you can access this page from the Apple's iMovie web page.) So, we seem to have a conflict in compatibility information here.
