I have a iMac with 17" flat screen (lovely) and want to get a scanner. All i have seen so far do not work fully on 10.2.5. Most revert to 9, or some like the Epson 1260 cant be used to full potential. Any suggestions...thanks

You are looking at the cheapest scanner, but the Canon Lide80 is in the same price range and works great in OSX.2 It was an editors choice for OSX scanners last month in Macworld.
At worst, the lack of full potention that you are talking about may only be that the one-touch button on the scanners don't work. Most have scanner software and twain drivers that work fine in 10.2.x from what I've read.

Whatever you do, don't buy a Umax scanner. Their support for the Mac OS is absolutely lousy. (They do have XP drivers for my 2000u, but not Mac OS X drivers nor do they intend to produce any.) Additionally, when you do need driver updates to go along with OS updates, they make you buy a CD with the update rather than just letting you download them. As I mentioned above, I own a Umax scanner. However, because of these policies, I will not buy anything from them again until they become more customer and Mac friendly.

I just bought the Canon LiDE30 as well. It was a choice between this one and the Epson 1260 Photo. I thought the 1260 was fully capable in OS X, at least that's what the Epson website led me to believe.
Anyways, the Canon was the choice for me specifically because it gets it's power from the USB. That way, it's more portable (in case I want to carry it with my iBook). Canon has posted OS X native drivers and the Toolbox application is also OS X native. The buttons on the scanner also work under OS X.
It's a decent scanner for $80, but I do wish it had the film/slide adapter that the Epson comes with. Oh well, you gotta pay for the portability.
