convert to curves in illustrator?

is there a way to convert text/fonts to curvers in illustrator? i know it can be done in coreldraw but i'm new to illustrator and can't figure out if this is possible.

Select the text you want to convert with the arrow selection tool and use the "Create as Outlines" function. It's under Type in the menu bar (or shift command O)

In addition to SSAND's answer, I would suggest that you get in the habit of grouping the text after you convert it to outlines. I can't count the times I've mistakenly mutilated some converted text by inadvertently click-dragging across converted text.
In fact, I suggest you build a simple action that converts the selected text to outline, and groups it. This is an action I use every day.

Don't forget to get the spelling and punctuation absolutely perfect first though, as it can be a nightmare after committing to outlines.

Yeah, fixing typos on converted text is a real productivity killer.

Get into the habit of doing a "save as" just incase. That way you still have the original file.
