Hi
I'm a recent Mac convert after 15 years on PC's
My Titanium laptop has a superdrive that writes to DVD.
When i insert a blank 4.7 Gb DVD the drive spits it out again after about 10 seconds!
2 questions -
1) How do i proceed with writing my data to a DVD?
2) will the superdrive allow me to make copies of my DVD Movies?
Thanks
Chris

If you have iDVD, which is pre-installed if you have a Superdrive, you can use that program to burn DVDs. I hope that partly answers your question.
As for the hardware problem, when I bought my laptop, they stressed the importance of Applecare. Did you buy it? If so, they are supposed to help you with problems like that. I will be buying it ASAP myself. I am sorry I couldn't give any real advice, but since no one else replied and I myself am new; I hope I could help a little, newbie-to-newbie.

To comment on the above post.
iDVD is for burning video DVDs that you make with iMovie and your digital camcorder.
If you want to burn data DVDs, you'll need to use DiscBurner (should be located in Applications-->Utilities) or Toast ($90).
As for your other question, there are issues of legality concerning copying of commercial DVDs (that's what I'm assuming that you want to do). There are many threads regarding this topic. Try a search for 'DVD ripping' or for 'DVD Backup'.
I don't know why the blank DVD is spitting back out. Is it a DVD-R or DVD+R? Your SuperDrive only handles the "-" type of DVDs.
