A friend told me that he had "heard" that a "brand new" Powerbook was coming out next month with "all sorts of new features". I told him not to believe everything he hears and that a new Powerbook so soon after the recent new ones was very unlikely. Who's right - him or me?
Kevin.

It could be the revised 15 inch powerbook that he's talking about. So in a way it is brand new and has all sorts of features but not in the way he probably meant it. It'll probably have a lot of the same new features as the 12 and 17 inchers (bluetooth, etc...)

That's where things start to get a little tricky. Seeing as how the 17 inchers didn't come out too long ago (as in people's hands), it might mean that the new speeds won't come out for the 15 incher as that may tread into the 17 inchers realm and piss off the people that just got their 17 incher. But then again people might have bought the 17 incher for the other options like screen, firewire 800, keyboard, etc...
But then again /forums/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif, if the rumors at Think Secret are true, the 900MHz iBook might be released which complicates things even more since some people might be consfused about the 900MHz being "faster" than the 867 MHz of the Powerbook even though we're comparing G3's to G4's. I find a lot of people don't know the difference so that could pose a problem.

I agree. There are too many 'stupid consumers' out there.
Apple will definitely keep the iBook speed below the PowerBook speed. I kind of doubt a new iBook for a long time, like several months.
Those never-right rumor sites can suck my di(k. /forums/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

I believe that the 15" will always be top of the range model, because by the end of the day, more peple are likely to buy and use that the 17" - which is a bit oversized for the regular user, and I don't think that Apple will upgrade new powerbook's without a speedbump, I don't know Apple's history but did they ever upgrade a model without a speed bump???
