Since iDVD will not work with external DVD writer, is there any other software other than DVD Studio Pro to create the menu and chapters? I'm seriously thinking about making the switch back to PC and MovieMaker.

iDVD Alternative

There are currently 3 alternatives to iDVD.
The most capable alternative, of course, is DVD Studio Pro. However, DVDSP lacks the ease of use and low price point of iDVD, and so may not truly be a good iDVD replacement, even though it is much more capable.
If you buy a Formac Devideon, you'll get the Devideon DVD authoring software, but you've already bought a drive from another company.
Looks like your only real option is CaptyDVD, distributed by LaCie.
I have no idea how good this software is, but it is your only reasonable alternative at this point, and is presumably better than nothing.
