So I've downloaded Direct Connect for Mac OS X, shared 9GB or my stuff, connected to a few hosts, found files i want to download from users who have open slots, double clicked on them, then NOTHING! In the download window next to all the files is "waiting." What is it waiting for? Am i doing something wrong? Please help.

i just downloaded direct connect also, i am on a router with a firewall so i am in passive mode, and i've also had problems like that, very few files actually connect, and i cant get very many user file lists either. i just keep trying until something connects. i've tried a lot of stuff i thought might fix it, but nothing worked...

It does as long as you find a good hub. The main problem is being in passive mode. If you and the peer you are trying to connect to are both in passive mode, you can't connect. One person must be in active mode. Personally, I opened up two ports in the firewall and used those so I could be in active mode and that works much better.

I virtually never get that with direct connect. Is your download location set to a folder that actually exists? When I first used Direct Connect, I selected a download location, then deleted that directory. After doing so, I got "waiting" on everything I tried to download.

Hi d00d, which ports did you open to allow you to use direct connect in active mode?

I picked two random ones, 4421 and 4422. Generally, anything greater than 1024 and less than 65000 is ok (I can't remember the exact number for the upper limit, but I'm sure you can look it up if you want). After I opened them in the firewall, I specified them in the preferences.
