I've had no luck getting my iBook to work with DSL and Airport. I already have a desktop unit working well with DSL but the iBook won't work with what I believed to be a correct configuration. Here's what I've done to date.
1) line from a filtered phone jack to Airport
2) set up PPPoE to DCHP server
Does the Airport have to run an EtherNet cable from the DSL Modem?
I did this but it still won't log on saying that it "can't find the PPPoE client.
Any help wpould be Sooooo appreciated. I'm already spoiled by the desktop unit and I'd sure like to enjoy DSL connection via Airport.
Thanks for any consideration.

I have a TiBook with an Airport BaseStation connected to a DSL modem. If you iBook has an Airport card you just set you network up to use Airport and configure using DHCP. THe Base staion is connected using pppoe, the laptop just needs to use dhcp so it can get an IP address from the base station...
If you do not have an airport card then you will have to use DHCP with built in ethernet and connect the ibook to the base station with an ethernet cable...

This is what I'm looking for. What I need to clarify is the hook up to the DSL modem. I have an AirPort card, so that's not an issue. The filtered phone line goes into the Base station and the base station setup is to connect through "DSL over PPPoE"? I then setup the iBook (Network panel) to PPPoE?
Do I have this straight? I believe I tried this but the iBook wouldn't "see" the PPPoE client.
Let me know If I'm on the right track.
Thanks very much.

No, you want the Mac using DHCP to the Airport Base station, adn let the Airport Base Station provide the PPPoE to your DSL provider.
Take a look at This Apple Document on the subject.

To begin with, if you are using a DSL modem, a non filtered phone line goes to the dsl modem and then an ethernet cable goes from the dsl modem to the WAN port on the base station. Then you set the ibook up to use airport and DHCP...
The base staion is not adsl modem. The phone jack it has is for a regular dialup connection, not dsl.

Just to add to gmleeiis post:
EVERYTHING plugged into the phone lines EXCEPT the DSL modem should be filtered. This includes
dial-up modems in the computers, if connected, and
the dial-up modem in the Airport, if so equipped and connected.
You may want a dial-up modem plugged in for FAX and for ISP backup if the DSL goes down.
