I just got my 5gb iPod today, and it mounted fine the first time while I transfered my iTunes playlists and I selected the option to use it as a FireWire disk. Now when I connect it, two windows come up; one telling me that a disk that has tried to mount failed to verify itself or mount, and a second telling me that the disk I have inserted is not readable with the options Ignore, Initialize, and Eject.
Any idea why this is happening? Any help is very much appreciated.

Weird -- it might be worth re-initializing the iPod and starting over just to see if that fixes the problem. Or run Disk Utility on it.

I was afraid to run Norton on it in case it would ruin the iPod end of the hard drive, but I tried it. It worked, though I'm not sure what happened.
