Very good article on the MS not applying it's own patches and a nice comment about 'switching' to MAC at the end.

Oh, rest assurred they DO exist, although not in the "every-day-a-new-one-is-created" variety
DO NOT be so nieve as to think that we will not be targeted in the future, with the switch over to unix based OS. Especially if Apple starts picking up market share and more users, oh yea, as the saying goes: Build it, and they WILL come........
Count on it !!!
Couldnt help but ROTFLMAO at the above linked article, hehehe........typical M$ B$........

Well, there was the Peace Virus, the QuickTime Autorun virus, the WDEF virus, but I have to admit those were a few years ago, and I can't name any Mac OS X viruses. Still, the Virex Virus Definitions file for Mac OS 9 is a 2MB file. It's gotta be listing something...
Their comment about "half" the viruses of Windows is just a phrase, not an exact measure. Macs have far less than half the viruses.

I never said they DIDN"T exist, I'm just saying that I NEVER heard of a virus on a Mac. All of my friends who have PCs have gotten at least one. I tell them that the easist to prevent viruses on your computer is to not open files from an unknown source. Unfortunately, some of them have to learn the hard way.

Now that Macs are running a variation of UNIX, most of the virus infections will be the UNIX virus variety. As the Xserve becomes more popular with businesses, watch the number of virus attacks slowly trickle upwards. More likely server based viri.
UNIX viri use some interesting algorithms.

What's Bill holding in that photo? It looks like a small chalkboard, maybe that's what he uses instead of a laptop. Maybe we'll see him next with an abacus instead of a calculator? /forums/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif
There used to be Extensions for earlier MacOS's that made it look like you had a virus. There was one that would swing your cursor in circles whenever you moved the mouse, and another that made all the text read from right to left. They were fun, I scared some teachers at my elementary school (back in the day when we had system privileges to our Mac SE's...).
