I downloaded iPhoto 2 couple of hours ago and have been playign around with it quite a bit. Love the speed increase and the new features (one-touch enhance and the retouch brush both work just like advertised and are great), but I have run into one problem. I can't seem to get iPhoto2 to display pictures grouped by film rolls within albums. In my "Photo Library" the film rolls show up just as they should and the option to set the view to film rolls is perfectly usable under the "View" menu. But when I'm in an album all the thumbs just show up and the option under "View" to view by film rolls is greyed out. Is this some snafu limited to me or a new "feature" of iPhoto 2.
Actually this is plays into the one complaint I have always had of iPhoto: I've always wanted the ability to create sub-albums or just a way to organize pictures in a hierarchical fashion (like an album titled "Family Gatherings" and within that album more sub folders containing groups of specific events, Christmas 2001 in one, Christmas 2002 in another). I was pretty happy with how I had everything arranged using film rolls. In one album, for instance, marked "Vacations" I had our family trips organized by Film Rolls (one roll for the beach, one for our fall trip, etc.) But now I can't even seem to utilize film rolls any more and am quite disconcerted: my album "Vacations" is just full of thumbs from all our trips.
I'm hoping someone can point out some obvious thing I have overlooked or at least let me know that is an anomaly I am suffering from so I can try to perhaps restore my library from a backup.
Thanks for the help.
T.
