Screen Cleaner

I was just wondering what you clean your screen with? What is best to use? Right now, I use paper and water. I will soon either get one of those cleaners from CompUSA for $6.99 or one of the Starter Kits from KlearScreen. Or something else from KlearScreen, but I like the Starter Kit since it comes with a bit of everything. So, what do you use to clean your notebook with?

iKlear yes, yes. What kind? if you go to www.klearscreen.com you'll see they have many configurations. I wouldn't buy it at the Apple Store, because at the klearscreen site they have it much cheaper. The starter kit is $9.95, the cloth singles are $9.95 and the one with everything cost less than the one at Apple.com I think.

Are the wipes good? Do you think they're better than teh Super Starter Kit? What's the cost too? Is it $9.95 with shipping and handling or does Shipping and Handling add on almost double?
Also, has anyone used the Screen Protectors from Macally? The overlays over the screen? Are they good? How long does one last? I have one on my Palm, of course it's different on a computer because it might distort the resolution.
The Protectors are here:http://www.macally.com/spec/specialites/accessories/screenprotector.html

Forget the wipes - get the polish spray and the microfibre cloth. End of story.
iKlear and Klearscreen are one and the same, just different packaging.
Microcloth can be used between keyboard and screen. But, if you want, get the Full size protector, covering trackpad and speakers.
Personally, the MFC is plenty good enough, and it's there wherever you go.

kenny, the wipes are great. They are wet enough for me to clean my ibook, 22"crt, TV, keyboard, covers for my three epson printers and just about anything else I can think of. I buy them at the Apple Store SOHO, so I don't pay shipping. $9.95 for the 12 pack, plus tax.
pjskelti, I can see why you would get the spray bottle, since you get more polish for your money. However, I live in NYC, So I have to deal with city dust. I prefer to be able to use a fresh, disposable, wipe.
So, don't forget the wipes.
Where is this microfibre cloth you mention?

It's the cloth that Klearscreen sell either separate or in on of the packs. $19.95 - sounds familar. If I could bother my arse to go to their site, I'd tell you exactly, but then that would spoil it for you, since part of the fun is finding it! /forums/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif
IMO, the wipes are handy, but apart from that, a waste of money since once they've been opened, you'll need to use it at once or it'll dry out before the next time comes round to using it.
Sounds to me like you use it like a general duster, polishing all yer ornaments! LOL
What are ye like? Bet your mother doesn't use anything so fancy - Mr Muscle/Mr Sheen's good enough for her. /forums/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smirk.gif /forums/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Using some sort of wipe not made of paper is a good idea. Paper comes from wood and is very abrasive. I know the folks at Maui Jim Sunglasses (great sunglasses) and they specificly suggest to not use paper towels to clean lenses. The same should hold true for displays.

Oh! Those types of screen covers. Yeah, don't bother with those type. iThought you were on about the leather ones from OWC.com (iThink).
Hold on, I'll go to Klear's site and tell you what I was on about...........
Right, spend the extra and get the KS-VSK one - 2x the price, but 4x the spray amount!
As for the MFC, not having seen the KCs from Klear, I can only say if they are materially like the lens cleaning cloths from Camera stores/Oakley plutonite bag, then that's exactly what's correct. If they aren't, then get one of those type for putting between the screen and keyboard and use the KCs for cleaning the screen or whatever else takes your fancy.

I was on the site before I replied to double check (since I hate it when people ask questions because thay are just too lazy to look first) and there is nothing specifically called "microfibre cloth", or even anything that I saw with "microfibre cloth" in the description.
If you are talking about the "Klear Kloths 12-pack", that isn't exactly saving a lot of money if you use them exclusively, since you should use a wet aplication and a dry one. maybe you use one end of the kloth for the wet and the other end for the dry, I certainly wouldn't spray directly onto the screen, and I wouldn't reuse the dry ones, so there isn't that much difference in usage.
The wipes come with 12 wet ones(polish) and 12 dry (same wipes as the Klear Kloths, maybe not as big).
I only need to use them every 2-4 weeks anyways, so it would just be cheap to try to reuse a disposable rag.
