Hi guys
I live in Canada, and I speak French. I saw the other time on Apple's website that if you choose a 12" PowerBook with a SuperDrive, it only comes with the English Version of Mac OS. So, anyone could say if there will be a French Version of the 12" Powerook Superdrive.... that would be cool.

I'm confused...
How would a drive be region specific?
It is only DVD media containing movies that have region codes as I recall. I could be wrong about that, but it seems to me that you're fine ordering the SuperDrive 12" AlBook. OS X 10.2 will run fine I imagine.

Hi
As Paranoid_Android pointed out, the DVD "region code" situation may be your only problem, if at all any. However, Mac OS X has always been multilingual. They've added several every few months in the first year but it has become quite good at being a great "universal" OS. I did a test. I changed my primary language from English to French and indeed it displayed French the next time I opened Mail. So, as you can see, it shouldn't be a problem. /forums/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

The region is not the issue - Canada like the US is NTSC. iThink he may be referring to the DVD playback software using English popup text when the mouse arrow is hovering over an icon for the various options/controls.
Alternatively, it could be a reference that the OS X cd's installer is in English only. But this is a wild notion!

Hi
Well, since I know that isn't true, it shouldn't be a problem. Not that you thought it was true. I don't know much about the DVD Player "pop-up," but I would say that most, if not all Apple's OS X apps are multilingual as well. I doubt Agurri should have any troubles in the language area.

No, I want to say is that if on apple.com, you select your country as Canada, and then you go to Store, PowerBook 12" SuperDrive and you look at the Keyboard and Mac OS Language, you got 3 choices: U.S. English, French Canadian, and FOR SUPERDRIVE - U.S. ENGLISH . So , for me it means that if I buy the PowerBook 12" with SuperDrive, I will only have the English version of keyboard and Mac OS.

Hi
As I said before, Mac OS X is almost all languages. Anyway. I did another test. I went to the Apple Store Online. Than went to the "Vist other Apple Stores around the world" and chose Canada. I than proceeded to the PowerBooks section. Clicked on the 12" SuperDrive model and was able to choose "Keyboard/Mac OS - French Canadian"
Maybe they cleared up that issue since someone reported it.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't French use the same alphabet as us? LoL
I can understand the lack of certain characters ON the keyboard, but nonetheless you CAN choose the language your OS uses and adapt the US Keyboard to it. A small price to pay for portable DVD burning in a 12" laptop. Worst comes to worse you can just paste little stickers to the keys and replace letters that aren't correct.

iThink I'm right in saying that the SD version of the iBook is a BTO? If that's the case, surely it should be possible to request the keyboard YOU want. If I were you, I'd get on the phon to them and get it clarified, rather than relying on someone here 'knowing' the answer.

Yes, in much the same way as Gemans, Norwegians, Swedes use the SAME alphabet! I'd suggest you view some native language websites from those countries and see if you can find the letters they use on YOUR english keyboard. /forums/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smirk.gif It's not beyond the realms of reason to expect a keyboard with the letters required to work in that specific language, to be on the keyboard and not up to the users to have to remember the different key combos each time they need to be used.
