airport issue

I have the airport from 2 years ago. I had it all set up with ibook and cable modem. I got rid of cable modem, now I dial up. When I have the airport's modem dial up, I connect to the internet, but I am unable to send or receive any data between my iBook and airport.
It all worked fine when I was using the cable modem, but now it is not sending/receiving data.
Any ideas, please let me know.
