My spelling checking wont' work in Entourage (OSX/latest). Preferences are selected in Entourage General Preferences (speck spelling as you type, etc). It shows a "Customer Dictionary" selected. I have trashed it. But now when I try to select a Dictionary from MS Office shared tools (US Spelling Dictionary) - it shows on the selection menu BUT IS NOT HIGHLIGHTED - so can't be selected.
HOW DO I SELECT AN OFFICE DICTIONARY TO WORK WITH ENTOURAGE. WOULD LIKE THE SAME DICTIONARY I USE WITH OFFICE/WORD. BUT ITS NOT HIGHLIGHTED WHEN I TRY TO SELECT IT SO, I CAN'T SELECT IT???

My experience with Entourage's spell-checking is that it is not as flexible as Word's. Word allows multiple dictionaries, including the default Office language dictionary for your chosen language and as many Custom dictionaries as you choose to add. Entourage, as near as I can see, only uses the default dictionary for the language (which should be selected by the "Dictionary Language:" pull-down on the Spell preference tab, e.g. mine is set to "English (US)", and a single custom dictionary likewise selected on that Spelling prefernce tab with the "Dictionaries..." button. I wouldn't try to point the "Dictionaries..." button choice to the Office language dictionary, since that's where Entourage will attempt to store any words you add to your dictionary, which would require write permission to the file (which may be why you're not allowed to select the Office-supplied language dictionaries.). The current language dictionary can also be set with "Change Dictionary" menu choice on the Tools menu when composing (from among the list of installed languages).
When you say the spelling check isn't working, you mean it flags all words as errors? Or it doesn't flag any words, even erroneous words? If you compose a message and select "Spelling..." from the Tools menu, what does it do?
As a try to reset all preferences, try quitting Entourage and moving file "Entourage Settings (10)" out of your home ~/Library/Preferences/Microsoft folder. That should cause Entourage to reset back to a default dictionary (I think - the setting might be in the "Office Settings (10)" file instead. Entourage shares that file with Word.)
