I was wondering if the conversion tool converts all data. Some conversion tools that I have used, (not from Quickbooks) MYOB comes to mind, don't convert all data. Can you let me know? For example if the conversion tool would not convert all data, such as old invoices, payments made on those invoices, etc. I would not be interested in switching to the Mac version of QuickBooks. I am currently using QuickBooks Pro for Windows.

Intuit has just announced that the Windows-Mac data conversion service is now available in Apple Retail Stores. This is a third option which is less expensive and much faster than sending files directly to Intuit, for those who can't download and convert their data using the free utility.

QUESTION: I was reading about this conversion process in the accompanying PDF literature, and on page 12 of the User Guide, I came across this paragraph, which gave me serious concern about the viability of this Windows to Mac Converter.
It appears that this is a one-time conversion from QB Pro Windows (2003) to QB Pro 5 (Mac). Once you've converted, then you should not transfer it back to the QB Pro Windows format.
Here's the excerpt from the User Guide (page 12)
Important The Converter was designed expressly for one-way, one-time conversion from QuickBooks 2003 for Windows to QuickBooks Pro 5 for Mac. Therefore, this utility will not be supported if used for any other purpose. Due to differences between the Windows and Mac data formats, Intuit strongly discourages attempts to transfer data back to the Windows platform. Results are not guaranteed. Modifications made on one platform might not be reflected after conversion on the other platform.
Can someone clarify this matter for me, and all of us who are interested in the Windows-to-Mac converter?
Thank you in advance. /forums/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif

I just read the PDF info and I have a question about the feasibility of the conversion as well. Once it's converted from Windows to Mac, I'm not confident of the resulting file integrity. I'm particularly concerned about the reference, as mentioned in the prior post:

Brandon,
I suspect that you've answered your own question. If you read that paragraph as a disclaimer, they are saying that they don't know what will happen if folks try to use the converter to take data back and forth. They haven't tested it under the myriad permutations of OS's, versions, file size/complexities - and can't guarantee that it will work 100%, so they have to warn folks not to use it for that purpose. Since they've tested it for one-way conversions, that's what they can guarantee and support. Since there are endless variations of what OS/configuration of windows systems a user might have, Intuit isn't able to predict that multiple conversion trips will work perfectly every time.
This isn't to say that it isn't possible, nor that they won't add that capability to a future version. In fact, if you want this capability, speak up and be heard - add your voice to the wishlist thread in this forum, or fill out a feedback form on Intuit's QuickBooks pages. The feedback link is at the bottom right corner of most pages, or just go directly here: http://quickbooks.in.../feedback.jhtml.
Meanwhile, they ARE offering free technical support for folks using the win/mac conversion utility in its present form, so I would encourage anyone with any concerns about converting their data to call them.
