how do i play svcd's with vlc?

I installed the program but unsuccessfull in playing svcd's

Which program? What happens when you try to place a SVCD?

i haven't gotten it to successfully play it straight from the CD either...

if you copy the MPEG file from the CD onto your HD, then open that file directly from vlc, it should work though.

I've gotten it to work.....I wish I had the program in front of me, I'm just at work right now...From what I remember its an option you have to choose on the menubar...I think, "Play Movie"?....Anyways there is an option in that window that will let you choose to play a DVD or a VCD...Select the VCD and then go to "OK" It should automatically start playing the VCD Disc.

okay, i am using v0.2.92. I loaded the svcd, then the program. The only option I have in the menu is to "file>open>open file" I tried opening the files on the cd but with no luck....

upgrade to the latest release
that now has the "load disc" option added to the application menu.

what is the Program called i have a SVCD and would love to play it, or even better convert it into divx or something easer to play images/icons/grin.gif

i tried it both ways from the cd and from my HD and still no luck, all i get it really choppy audio and a green and black screen

Go to the File Menu Bar and select "Open Disc"....In the new window that appears, under "Type" select VCD and hit OK. Make sure you have the VCD in the Drive at the time....Thats how I got it to work...
