Hey all:
I'm hoping to get a Mac for the coming fall term, most likely an iBook. However, I'm looking at buying a Sony Clie (it's cheap and it does what I want). I've heard there are third party programs (Missing Sync?) that can sync Sonys with Macs. Are these programs worth the money? Or would I be better off spending a bit more on a Palm that syncs properly with Apple's OS?

I'm using a Clie PEG-T615C--bought it last summer & it's GREAT! It may be discontinued now so maybe you can find one at a great price. Runs Palm OS 4 so I don't need Missing Sync, just Palm Hotsync. (I'm running OS 10.2.6.) I'm also syncing Entourage; you need the free conduit from Microsoft for that. I use & really like a PDA software suite called Splash Wallet: it has an encrypted ID application, a really useful & user defined Shopping List application, and a Photo app to display jpg photos (without using Missing Sync). It also has a Money app that interfaces with Quicken but I'm not using that right now. My Clie has color, great resolution, & 16 MB memory with lots left. Takes a Memory Stick if you want expandable storage. This Clie will do MP3 with an accessory but I'm not interested in that because we already have an iPod & it's much superior for music & audible book storage.
My husband bought one of the newer Clie's with the camera; it uses Palm OS 5 & he did have a lot of trouble trying to sync it to a Mac. That, and the fact that Microsoft still doesn't provide a workable Mac link to its Exchange Server, drove him back to the Windoze world for email & PDA communications.
