Quark 4.x or 5.x can only run in Classic mode within OS X.
Quark runs exactly as it would in OS 9.
Some of the "problems" you may encounter are:
Sometimes ATR (Adobe type reunion) works and then it just well.. doesn't.
and
Managing fonts. ATM (Adobe type manager) will not work in OS X.
This is true with 4 computers using 10.1.5 and 9.2.2.
I use Suitcase 10 which will handle all the "Classic" fonts and OS X fonts. Including .dfonts, Open type, Windows TT and MM fonts.
I have tried Font reserve as well but prefer Suitcase (for now).
Quark is not and will not be re-writing Quark as a Cocoa application in the foreseeable future. Quark has said (not a rumor) that they will be Carbonizing future versions of Quark and have no plans to rewrite it any other way.
Marineboy, the graphic problem you are having may be related to the video card/VRAM. I have a B&W G3 in my department which had an Xclaim3D VR card with 4 MB of VRAM. Quark didn't re-draw the graphics or some palettes properly. I swapped a Rage pro with 16 MB of RAM and the problem is gone.
Bottom line is out of 4 Macs in which I have OS X and OS 9 installed none of them have problems with screen redraw. Is this problem you are encountering happening on more that one computer? If it is I would suspect either the VRAM or a Quark extension. It is not normal.
