Cant see my HD

PLease help.... My HD wount mount. When I load up from the install cd I can see it in the HD Setup programme but it wont let me mount it. What can I do? I dont want to initialise the disk and Nortons wont work either.

Please give us a few more details to work with here.
Which Mac?
What version of Mac OS?
Was this a sudden occurrance, or were there a couple of previous problems before this occured?
We'd like to help, give us a little more to go on.
