Since upgrading to v10.2.6, occassionally I notice that 100% of my CPU is being held and all of my RAM (1 Gig) is listed as in use. This results in a System wide slow down as the OS works to circumvent the restricted resources....with a lot of spinning beach balls.
When I open Process Viewer to see what is running, I find that DMProxy is the culprit. Each time, DMProxy is running as a different user (I am the administrator) and I cannot quit the process because it is "being used by another user"......even though that user has logged off and no errors were listed when they logged off.
I have found DMProxy running as guest (when guest has no access) as well as finding it running under my daugher's account after she has logged off.
DMProxy is not listed in the "Force Quit" window and the only way to quit the process and release the CPU is to restart the machine.
What is DMProxy? Why is it a rogue? How do I fix this problem? Is this a bug in OS X v10.2.6?
I have posted to other forums and searched Apple's Knowledge Base, but have found nothing on this matter.
Thank you,
